After seeing the ‘remake’ I kinda understood even more why the 80s horror movies worked. They never took themselves too serious and it kinda added something to the dark and scary theme. I forgot the plots of the other movies. Should do a marathon of them soon.

Nimh 1: A very smart and beautyful animated movie, but as a kid it was at some parts way too dark. Saw it when I was 6. The concept is also well thought out and went beyond my child’s brain. From all Don Bluth movies is this my fav.

    Nimh 2: An insult.

Miyazaki movies… They look great and tell unique different stories. But Kiki’s Delivery Service is still my personal fav.

Bakshi. Hate or love it after each rewatch. Cool World is by far not as good as Roger Rabbit. But it has its moments. Definatly one of Bakshi’s worst.

Jaws 1: Reason why had a hard time to learn swimming. Watched it when I was 5. A classic, but looks dated in many ways.

    Jaws 2: Was ok. Unecassary.

    Jaws 3+4: Horrible.

I am a sucker for 60s comedies and this one is truly a highlight. The 60s had some of the most cheerful and lighthearted movies in history.

I am a fan of Sydney Lumet’s movies he made in the 70s. They capture that feeling of the time and are smart movies. Like Dog Day Afternoon and Serpico. Network is also one of them.

People will kill me, but I never thought Pixar had made a real evergreen, except Ratatouille and Incredibles. Toy Story 1 and 2 were smart and enjoyable movies, but I don’t think they are movies which I can watch over and over again. The first gets a pass for being the first 3D movie, but looks way too dated.

Toy Story 3 is the worst of the series. The jokes, pacing and story began to show how much the concept started to lack new ideas. I hope its the last in the series. After that it can just go more downhill. Does not mean its a bad movie, by far not. But it did not burn itself into my memory as much as Incredibles.

Ok… the fire part was a burn in the memory…

Anonym fragte: Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Either Gene Wilder or Johnny Depp version. Or both!

Gene Wilder: Liked it. Missed it as a kid so I have not a biased nostalgia look at it, but the cheerful undertone makes it really enjoyable.

Johnny Depp: It was ok. But just weird. Some hate it, some like it. I think it marks the day, when Tim Burton became a parody of himself.

Was too old for the Potter hype and the movies felt like Kid versions of the Discworld books, which I am more into. Still need to watch the Blöd Prince and Deathly Hollow.
